Live burn drill with all Newtown companies in house set for demo

Saturday morning engine 51 was dispatched along with the ambulance to South Main street in the area of Button Shop road for a 2 car MVA with injuries. First arriving units reported 3 patients with one still inside the vehicle 51's crew removed the drivers door to remove the patient from the vehicle.

Friday morning Engine 51 was dispatched to the area of 148 Berkshire Rd. to assist Sandy Hook FD. who was responding to a reported MVA with entrapment. First arriving units reported that all occupants were out of the vehicles and no extrication was required. Engine 51's crew assisted in fluid control.

Botsford was requested to respond to a reported rollover on Rt. 25 in the area of Button Shop. Arriving units found one car rolled over on its side with the driver out of the vehicle. Crews secured the fluids while the flat bed removed the vehicle.

Sunday around 2am Botsford was dispatched to the area of 38 Button Shop for the reported 1 car vs. pole. Units arriving found a pick up had struck a telephone pole and had broken it half. CL&P was notified to come out and secure the down power lines and transformer before crews could secure the vehicle.

Botsford was requested to respond with Hook & Ladder for the reported MVA with entrapment. Units arriving reported one occupant requiring a door removal. Botsford assisted with fluid control.

About 6:30pm Botsford was dispatched to 51 High Bridge Rd for a reported garage fire. Arriving units found that an All Terrain Vehicle had caught fire in the garage and was out on arrival. Crews checked for extension in the surrounding rooms. The house had minor smoke and soot damage on the exterior.

Botsford was requested to respond to a working structure fire as RIT for Hawleyville early Thursday about 4:15am. On engine 51's arrival the house was fully involved and all crews were on an exterior attack. Botsford's crew assisted in master stream operations as well as engine 51 set up secondary water supply.

Botsford cleared at 08:30am

On 5/15/11 at 10:54 Botsford was dispatched to S. Main in the area of Bears Hill rd for a two car MVA with possible extrication. 501 arrived on scene and reported a two car head on with no entrapment. Members provided patient care and controlled vehicle hazards. Newtown Ambulance transported both patients.

Its that time of year when the Botsford Fire Dept put on our annual carnival. It will be held at Newtown High School Wednesday April 20- Saturday April 23.
